Do you want to get abs in two weeks? Most of us, if not all of us will probably watch a video with a title similar to that. As we all know, getting abs takes a lot of work and time then a video pops up saying otherwise. Why is Chloe Ting so popular? Well, I guess because she masterminded the Get Abs in 2 Weeks video on YouTube. The video has garnered more than 200 million views on the video-sharing platform, and she has more than 14 million subscribers to her channel.
Chloe Ting, Actuary Turned Content Creator
Chloe Ting was born in Brunei and moved to Melbourne, Australia when she was 16 years old. Chloe worked as an actuarial analyst before she started her YouTube channel. She first created her channel focusing on fashion and travel as content, but by 2017, her channel shifted its focus into being a fitness channel. In August 2019, she made the video Get Abs in 2 Weeks, and the video went viral after bloggers and vloggers tried the workouts in the video. Chloe’s video, 2 Week Shred Challenge trended in the video-sharing application TikTok during the coronavirus lockdowns.
Real Or Clickbait?
Chloe has admitted that the title of her videos should not be taken literally. For workouts to be effective, you need to engage the muscles you’re working, and maintain the correct form of each movement, but Chloe’s workout videos do not give advice regarding these factors.
She uploaded a separate video on how to engage the core but learning how to do it needs the supervision of a live fitness instructor who will check if your form is correct. You can follow her core engaging tutorial video but you have to be very extra cautious in order to avoid injury.
You can still get a workout by following her videos, but you may not be working your muscles efficiently. Even though she is not a fitness trainer, her workouts are decent as a free workout guide.
Suitability for beginners
Provided there are low impact versions in each exercise set in the videos, beginners can still perform Chloe Ting’s workouts. The only risk here is if you’re unaware of how to properly begin working out, you might indulge too much on her exercises and follow how agile and seamless she does the workouts. The workouts are too intense for beginners.
Chloe can execute the workouts perfectly because she has been fit for years. Injuries are heading your way if you insist on the workout as fast as how Chloe performs the reps. If notinjuries, you might just give up because you will feel you’re not getting any results or ‘abs in 2 weeks.’
Those who tried Chloe’s workout challenges definitely got results, but only a very few of them are on the heavy side. Most of those who got defined abs in 2 weeks are those who have been working out prior to the challenge or those who are not big.
If you are obese, yes, you can still try Chloe’s workouts but you have to start very slow. Chloe’s workout reps only have 10 to 15 seconds rest time; you might pass out if you push yourself too hard and follow the timing of her workouts. Still, the best way to start working out for beginners is to do low impact cardio such as walking, yoga, Zumba, or biking 30 minutes a day.
If you’re still up for Chloe’s workout challenges, it’s ideal to do them not every day but 2 to 3 times a week. You can also try her 2018 8 Weeks Shred Challenge (below) as this challenge is more realistic and doable for beginners than jumping into her intense 2 weeks abs workout challenge.
Abs in 2 weeks?
Chloe’s most popular workout videos are designed to give you a toned, flat stomach, or even a six-pack abs. But the videos alone won’t do that for most people. Doing the challenges won’t give you abs in two weeks, but your stomach area will be more defined than it was before doing the challenge.
The only way to get abs is to lose body fat, and targeting a specific area to lose it does not work. Sit-ups or crunches do not make you lose belly fat. The only way to lose belly fat is to lower body fat percentage. Once you start losing fat, there is no guarantee that it would tone your belly as genetics largely play a role in determining which part of your body burns fat quickly.
There is no guarantee that you will get abs within two weeks just by working out. The titles of her popular videos are not totally clickbait as the workouts can help you get abs, but the videos do not tackle the ideal form for targeting specific muscles. Chloe also does not provide any information regarding nutritional needs for losing fat, and the factor of genetics is also not discussed.
So, why is Chloe Ting so popular? Personally I don’t quite get it because there are many better ab videos on YouTube. Being pretty and cute probably helps bit. Tell us what you think in the comments below.
